Duolingo Score Requirements for Canadian Student Visa

For international students applying for a Canadian student visa, meeting English language proficiency requirements is crucial. The Duolingo English Test (DET) is accepted by many Canadian universities, but its role in the visa process depends on specific guidelines set by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Below are key points regarding Duolingo score requirements and their impact on visa applications:

• University Acceptance: Many Duolingo Accepted Universities in Canada consider DET scores for admission, but visa approval depends on additional factors.
• IRCC Language Requirements: As of now, IRCC primarily recognizes IELTS, TOEFL, and CELPIP for the Student Direct Stream (SDS), but non-SDS applicants may still use Duolingo where universities accept it.
• Minimum Score Guidelines: While some universities accept Duolingo scores of 90-120+, applicants should verify if additional tests are required for visa processing.
• Alternative Language Proof: In some cases, applicants may need to submit IELTS Academic or TOEFL iBT along with their Duolingo score for visa approval.
• Visa Success Rate: Students applying through the non-SDS route may have a better chance of visa approval when submitting Duolingo scores, provided they meet all other visa criteria.

Note: Before applying, students should check both university admission policies and IRCC visa guidelines to ensure a smooth application process.
